Tom: Thank you for these pics! All that snow. How absolutely lovely. What strikes me now is how bare all our front yards were back then. I know your family planted its Christmas tree (speaking of) every year, and we had some fir trees (from Mrs. Bardello) and the Rubys put a maple (I think) on their lawn. But obviously the lots had been clear cut for ease of construction. My memory, though is of green, green, green in the summers.
What a great picture of Peter! He looks so thin, though. Thanks for the memories.
Oh, yes, Walter--our grandfather (my mother's father) worked for United Fruit in New york and Cuba and was caught smuggling rum in from Cuba during prohibition. At dockside, he had to open each bottle and pour it out before tossing the empty bottles away. Wendy
It was a more innocent place and time in America—a dead-end street surrounded by fields and woods where a gang of kids ran free. Fifty years later, members of that gang have reconnected and are sharing their memories on this group blog. This version of the Green Valley Gazette is a successor to a mimeographed newsletter by the same name that some of the kids put together back then.
The Gang
Bill Little Dan Ruby David Seidel Ellen Little Joanne Ruby John Chesley Linda Herman Meagan Beale Nancy Thompson Snyder Shelley Chesley Tom Thompson Walter Ruby Wendy Needham
Any other former residents of Green Valley Drive and their friends are invited to join the gang. Contact Nancy to get involved.
Amazing! Great pics...so much snow...it just reminded me that we used to make real igloos in our front yard. Global warming sucks, doesnt it?

Glad to see a picture of Randy Moore. It would be great to have them join the site.
