Dave's posting caused me to pull out my copy of the 1966 Talbot. I was the Business Editor and the only Green Valley Drive/Farmview Drive senior. However the other years are amply represented. I have even kept the typos.
My memory is that you were the original paperboy for Farmview and Green Valley. Sometime after you graduated, you turned the Pittsburgh Press over to Kenny Hartzell and the North Hills News Record to me. I eventually passed the News Record on to Linda, who passed it to Susan and then on to Tommy, keeping it in the Seidel family for over 15 years.
Those pictures are somethin' else! I don't remember the Harbours. Were they on Farmview or Green Valley? Which Moore was in Trish's class? I was remembering Randy as the oldest & I was thinking he was in Dave Seidel's class.
Ellen: The Harburs lived next to us for just a couple of years. Everyone else: Wow, these pictures. I do remember them...I must have looked at that book a lot, becasue all of these look familiar.
The Harbur's lived between us and the Beale's. Four girls. I know Linda played with them. Somewhere earlier there are several comments on them and the clubhouse they had up in the woods for the girls ... That was Randy Moore in Trish's class. Tommy Moore was in my class - but I do not remember what year he came over from St Marys. I think the Moore children were Randy, Tommy, Betsy, Richie, Bobby and Katie.Bill would know.
Love the hairstyles. I isolated the comment notification problem and have a partial solution. It will now notify on comments, but only to a list of 10 specific email addresses (instead of the Yahoo group list), so not everyone is on the list. The new post notification goes to everyone who signed up for the Yahoo group (a few of you didn't).
It was a more innocent place and time in America—a dead-end street surrounded by fields and woods where a gang of kids ran free. Fifty years later, members of that gang have reconnected and are sharing their memories on this group blog. This version of the Green Valley Gazette is a successor to a mimeographed newsletter by the same name that some of the kids put together back then.

Any other former residents of Green Valley Drive and their friends are invited to join the gang. Contact Nancy to get involved.

Yes, I was the paperboy. I got it from Tom Ammons. The News Record went farther than Farmview and Green Valley but was only once a week.

ReplyDeleteI think that that is Randy in the Class of 1968 picture. I believe his first name was actually John.
ReplyDeleteI didn't play with the Harbour girls-that was Susan. I just played in their woods. They must have been younger....
